Why Novara Clinic

Tattoo removal done properly, by someone medically qualified

Laser tattoo removal is a medical-grade treatment, so who does it matters. At Novara you're treated by Claire Brooks, an HCPC-registered prescribing health professional with a Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Facial Aesthetics, trained at MATA on Harley Street.

Safe, effective technology

We use a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser, the most widely used and best-evidenced laser for removing tattoo ink. It shatters the ink into tiny particles that your body clears naturally.

Honest pricing, no surprises

Simple pricing by tattoo size, from £54 a session. You'll know exactly what each session costs before you start.

Comfort taken seriously

Numbing cream and skin cooling are available during treatment. Most clients describe the sensation as a quick flick of an elastic band.

A plan built for you

Ink colour, depth, age and your skin all affect how many sessions you'll need. Your consultation gives you a realistic plan, not a one-size-fits-all package.

How it works

From first message to clear skin in three steps

01

Free consultation and patch test

We look at your tattoo, talk through what's realistic and carry out a patch test at least a week before your first session.
02

Treatment sessions

Each session takes around 10 to 30 minutes depending on size. Sessions are usually spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart to give your body time to clear the ink.
03

Fading, then gone

Most tattoos need several sessions. Dark and black ink responds fastest. You stop whenever you're happy, whether that's full removal or fading for a cover-up.

Good to know

Black and dark blue ink removes best. Greens, yellows and light blues can be more stubborn and take longer.
We can't treat tanned or fake-tanned skin, so plan sessions around holidays.
Multiple sessions are needed. Anyone promising one-visit removal isn't being straight with you.
Older, faded and amateur tattoos often clear faster than fresh professional work.
Fading for a cover-up usually needs fewer sessions than full removal.
FAQs

Your questions, answered

Does laser tattoo removal hurt?

It's uncomfortable rather than painful. Most people compare it to an elastic band snapping against the skin, and each session is short. We offer numbing cream and use cooling during treatment to keep you comfortable.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on the ink, the colours, how deep it was applied and how old it is. Most tattoos need a course of sessions spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart. Your consultation will give you an honest estimate.

Can every tattoo be removed?

Most tattoos can be fully removed or significantly faded. Some colours are harder than others, and we'll tell you at your consultation if we think yours will be a challenge.

Will it leave a scar?

When carried out correctly with the right laser and good aftercare, scarring is uncommon. Following your aftercare advice is the biggest thing you can do to protect your skin.

Can I speed the process up?

Yes, to a degree. Good aftercare, staying hydrated, not smoking and keeping active all help your body clear the ink between sessions.

Do I need a patch test?

Yes, at least one week before your first treatment. The patch test is a one-off £25 fee.

Where are you based?

Novara Clinic is in Cookham, a few minutes' walk from Cookham Station and a short drive from Maidenhead, with easy access from Marlow, Bourne End and the wider Thames Valley.
